We arrived in Nha Trang on Tuesday 08 December, after getting a night bus from Hoi An on Monday night. I was a somewhat sad leaving Hoi An as I would consider it the best town I’ve been to since arriving in Vietnam. Unfortunately the weather was not in our favour, with scattered showers on two of our four days. Therefore we decided to book a night bus via The Sinh Tourist office in Hoi An for 199,000 Dong each ($8.85 / €8.12), an entire $4 dollars cheaper than booking through our hotel.
The bus left Hoi An bang on time at 18:15 hours and was due in to Nha Trang at 07:00. It was assigned seating and unfortunately all four of us (me, Jamie, Ciara & Amy) were allocated upper bunks on the sleeper bus, I think some of us (if not all) would have preferred a lower bunk. The bus had no W.C. either and stopped three times for toilet breaks; once at the side of the road!
Myself and Jamie on the sleeper bus
We arrived in to Nha Trang a little earlier than anticipated at 05.50 or so. We had booked the same hotel as each other; The Mai Huy Hotel and I had mentioned to them at the time of booking that we would be arriving around 7am and if we could check in that would be great. Thankfully, they allowed us to check in at 6.30am and we snoozed right up until lunchtime. Unfortunately Jamie and I did not sleep very well on the bus; as for the other two they were out like lights as soon as they hopped on!
We went out for a spot of lunch around 1am on Tuesday afternoon to a place called the Veranda along by the beach. The lunch was lovely however there was a little bit of wait for some of our meals. Not a big deal however it depends on how hungry you are!
Breakfast at Veranda Restaurant - they even had hash browns!
Walking in Nha Trang
The weather then took a turn for the worst and rain continued for most of the afternoon. We decided to head to the Nha Trang Shopping Centre. We played a game of bowling, did some clothes shopping (although far too expensive for those on a budget!) and visited the cinema; we saw The Good Dinosaur. It was a lovely movie and nice way to spend the afternoon.
Going for the strike!
Cinema had a promotion on offering two free drinks and a popcorn to couples - nice little touch!
Last night then we went for a few drinks and visited a club called the Zima Nightclub. It was a great night.
All ready to head out!
