We arrived in Mui Ne on Thursday 10 December on a bus from Nha Trang. The bus left at 7.20am and we arrived in to Mui Ne around 12.30pm. It was a sleeper bus, which I often think is unnecessary when you’re travelling by day, but anyway!
We didn’t do much the first day in Mui Ne but hung by the pool, yes our hotel has a POOL! It is the best, no sand, not many people and plenty bean bags. Plus the bar isn’t too far away either which is nice!

We arranged a tour for Friday to visit the must-see sand dunes of Mui Ne; the white dunes and the red dunes. The two options were to see the sunrise (leaving at 4.30am) or the sunset (leaving at 1.30pm). Needless to say we opted for the sunset option.
We were picked up in a dodgy looking buggy that barely moved and sounded more like a tractor than anything else! The itinerary for the day included a visit to The Fairy Stream, The Fishing Village, the White Sand Dunes and finally the Red Sand Dunes for the sunset. The Fairy Stream was fine but nothing much to report you’re basically just walking through a shallow sandy stream. As you walk in further alright the rocks become vividly red which was cool! Apparently also there is a waterfall at the end but again isn’t meant to be anything major.
Peace!
The Fishing Village was just a stop at the side of the road. It was quite spectacular in that there was literally hundreds of fishing boats in the bay, basically a village. We continued on to the sand dunes and it was all fun and games until half way there was an almighty bang and I looked ahead to see the bonnet had flew open. Myself and Jamie then tried to keep watch outside the car to steer him right! The driver and Jamie seemed to find it hilarious, I on the other hand was somewhat nervous with the rest of the journey.
Fishing Village - can you count how many boats there are?!
The White Sand Dunes were very good and there was quad bikes to rent for 30 minutes for 250,000 dong ($11.30). Jamie and I didn’t bother but Ciara and Amy did alright. I hopped on with Ciara for about ten minutes and they were good craic however a little noisy if I’m to be honest.

Next stop the Red Sand Dunes. We were a little conscious of time with trying to reach them by sunset as our driver was a little lazy in moving on once we’d seen what we needed to see in the last few places. We literally made it to the sand dunes with about 15 seconds to spare.
