We arrived safe & sound yesterday afternoon to the lovely island of Koh Samui. We had decided before we left for Asia we would check ourselves in to a lovely spot for Christmas as a treat and I guess a present to each other. We chose Lipa Lovely Resort, Lipa Noi on the west coast of the island. What a beautiful spot. The resort literally overlooks the beach. It’s beautiful.

On arrival the hotel handed us some post. My family had sent some Christmas cards to the hotel for us which was a lovely surprise. We have the cards all lined up on dressing table in the room making it very Christmassy for us. We had some dinner in the hotel yesterday evening and a few cocktails. A lovely evening I must say however the weather was not what we expected. Torrential rain. Out came the brolly’s and coats, I thought to myself, are we back in Ireland or what?!

We got up this morning around 9am to sensational heat and clear blue skies. Phew! We went straight for breakfast, which is included in the room rate. Buffet breakfast included teas, coffees, juices, breads, croissants, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, salad and a fry-up section. What a spread!
We spent the remainder of the morning/early afternoon lounging by the pool, which we had to ourselves. Absolute bliss. We came in out of the sun at just the right time I reckon as we were both starting to go a bit pink! Whoops. But we’re fine thank god!

We are just back from a lovely bite to eat in the restaurant belonging to the hotel; Big John Restaurant and a cocktail. We’re going to relax (some more!) for the rest of the evening and maybe borrow a DVD from reception. Hopefully they’ve something Christmassy for us!
