Review of The Hotel Lindrum

Jamie and I stayed at The Hotel Lindrum last weekend after a fun filled two days exploring the city. Last weekend was rather busy for us with our Luna Park and Melbourne Ice Bar visit. Therefore we enjoyed a well needed break in the stunning Hotel on Sunday night.

Overview

The Hotel Lindrum is a centrally located 59-bedroom hotel and as one of the best boutiques in Melbourne, we were only too delighted to check it out. We spent one night at this hotel last weekend.

Location

Located on Flinders Street, one of the busiest and best streets in the city centre and home to Flinders Street station lies The Hotel Lindrum. Nestled in amongst contrasting buildings of diverse sizes is the stunning red brick former home of the Griffiths Brother’s tea shop, steeped in history dating back to the early 20th Century.

Room

Hotel Lindrum had recently completed a refurbishment of all of their rooms and is evident as soon as entering. We were booked in to a Studio Room but we were offered a complimentary room upgrade to their Deluxe Room. The room was very modern and decorated to a very high standard, with in-room amenities such as a flat screen TV, Free Wi-Fi, tea/coffee making facilities (with freshly ground coffee, on request), dual stocking station, mini-bar, air conditioning and an in-room safe. They also offer complimentary newspaper, which is a nice gesture however we did not receive ours. I am not too sure how it works in this particular hotel however I would imagine, it would have been hung on the door perhaps of your room? Nevertheless it didn’t take from our stay, and was rather just one mishap.

Our room, on entering, had steps leading toward the bedroom, with a small dining area, large bed, impressive double bay windows overlooking Flinders Street, desk area with TV overhead, and large storage cupboard to the rear. Our en-suite consisted of bath with shower head, toilet, large vanity area with sink and surrounding mirrors, toiletries and drawers.

Facilities

The hotel has a charming and comfortable lobby with ample space for lounging on check-in or perhaps when waiting to check in. On entering you will notice the beautiful felt Restaurant one of Melbourne’s most charming restaurants serving breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. The hotel caters for professional meetings and also encompasses a Billiards Room, the billiards room however was under restoration so we did not get to see in here.

Food

As mentioned above the hotel has a restaurant that caters for every meal, we did not have dinner but we did have breakfast the following morning. Our rate included breakfast and we were treated to a vast array of hot foods from their breakfast menu and also free choice of their buffet selection. I opted for the Avocado & Feta Smash and I think the photos speak for themselves. Outstanding, to say the least!

Price

The Hotel Lindrum is a great option for those seeking a little luxury at a reasonable price when visiting The Worlds Liveable City. Price start from $275* for a midweek stay. With complimentary WiFi, a fantastic breakfast and staff that are undoubtedly one of the friendliest and most professional I have encountered during a hotel stay, I cannot recommend The Hotel Lindrum enough.

*Prices correct as at 27 August 2016 on Hotel Lindrum website.

Conclusion

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lindrum and having spent a lot of nights in boutique hotels while travelling South East Asia, I can say this was one of our all-time favourites. We would love to return when we come back to Melbourne, perhaps in the near future!

I stayed as a paying guest at The Hotel Lindrum. As always, all opinions are my own.
