Muckross Traditional Farms

We had a great day out over the weekend at Muckross Traditional Farms. It’s one the places I have been to 10+ times at least and somewhere I’ll always return to. We were very lucky with the weather, it was quite warm, we did get caught in just one rain shower but it really wasn’t that heavy, thankfully!

This time we decided on heading to the farms, there is also a national park and house and gardens. Although we did pop in to the garden for a quick walk, we mainly spent our time walking through the farm. The farms, which range in size, focus on what life would have been like in Ireland in the early 20th Century, with traditional farm machinery, animals and lots of poultry!

There is large petting area complete with picnic tables which are ideal for when you bring your own food with you, which we did, although we ate before we started our walk!

Prices range from €7.50-€9.00 for an adult and children under 5 are free. Full list of prices can be found here.

As we are now in September opening hours have been reduced with the farm not opening until 1pm. We arrived in time to have a quick bite to eat and waited patiently outside the doors to be let in! Be sure to check in advance for opening hours so that you are not disappointed. Full list of opening hours can be found here.
